CHRISTIAN POEMS ABOUT EVIL

Conspiracy
Lest Satan should get an advantage of us:
for we are not ignorant of his devices.

2 Corinthians 2:11

There is a real conspiracy
Existing through the ages;
An evil-centred strategy,
That infiltrates by stages.

It started out with Lucifer
Who sought his own promotion;
His downfall did not least deter
His surreptitious potion.

Deception is the clever trick
He uses with illusion;
Because we are by nature sick,
It causes much confusion.

He tried to kill the royal line,
And stop the Lord’s appearing;
But like the demons in the swine,
His fiery doom is nearing.

Before he has his final fling
There will be further lying;
His counterfeits contain a sting,
With many thousands dying.

Escape from this conspiracy
Is open for believers;
For Christ has won the victory,
And He will not deceive us.

The Theory
The fool hath said in his heart,
There is no God.

Psalm 14:1

The theory that’s called evolution
Is taught in our country today;
It gives a simplistic solution
That sweeps the Creator away.

By focussing on the creation
As something evolving indeed,
The future of each generation
Should be a superlative breed.

Yet there is a factor prevailing
That cannot be thereby ignored;
There cannot be any plain sailing
If reason is thrown overboard.

The truth is we’re not getting better;
In fact we are getting much worse;
Unless God removes every fetter,
We suffer the ultimate curse.

If there is a tangible credence;
A case with its visible proof;
To which men can give their allegiance,
And not be inept or aloof…

Then let us be truly outspoken,
Confessing there is not a case;
Creation is God’s perfect token;
Salvation His bountiful grace.

The Proud One
How art thou fallen from heaven,
O Lucifer, son of the morning!

Isaiah 14:12

How art thou fallen, Lucifer,
From thine exalted place!
How art thou cut down to the ground,
Since arrogance in thee was found;
Archfiend of thy race!

For thou hast said within thine heart,
I will ascend on high;
I will exalt my princely throne
Above the stars of God alone
That dwell amid the sky.

And further, I will take my seat
As chief among the host;
I will ascend above the heights,
Beyond the high and cloudy sites,
And gain the highest post.

I will be like the One Most High;
And then the Lord decreed,
Thou shalt be brought down to the Pit;
For so it was considered fit
For thine intended deed.

The people seeing thy demise,
Will say as they behold,
Is this the man who brought distress,
And made the world a wilderness?
Yea, from the days of old.

The Anointed Cherub
Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth.
Ezekiel 28:14

O son of man take up a cry,
With lamentation and a sigh;
And say unto the king of Tyre,
You were the seal of much desire.

Perfect in beauty, fully wise,
You were in Eden’s paradise;
Your covering was precious stones;
Your music had symphonic tones.

You were the guardian of My throne,
And walked amid the fiery stone;
So perfect in your conduct too,
Till wickedness was found in you.

By multitudes of merchandise,
Your soul became a den of vice;
Therefore I cast you out profane,
From where you had your bold domain.

The end of all your vain desire,
Shall be consumed in burning fire;
Your ashes shall be seen by all,
Who witness your ignoble fall.

Ahab and Jezebel
And Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the LORD…
1 Kings 16:30

Ahab was a wicked king
Who married Jezebel;
Morals took a downward swing,
As sad it is to tell.

Jezebel had introduced
An old satanic cult;
Thus the people were seduced,
With evil the result.

Ahab added to his sin,
With murder, lust and theft;
Coveting had brought chagrin,
Of joy he was bereft.

Naboth had a field nearby
That Ahab could not take;
So his wife maliciously
Exploited it by fake.

Both the king and Jezebel
Were evil to the core;
They were under such a spell
That God could not ignore.

So they met an awful fate,
As all the wicked do;
For they cannot mitigate
The judgment that is due.

Herod and Herodias
For John has said unto Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother’s wife.
Mark 6:18

Herod and Herodias
Were witnesses of John;
He rebuked their trespasses
And public goings-on.

She had got him wrongly jailed,
And would have had him killed;
Yet so far her schemes had failed
To have the prophet stilled.

Herod chose to celebrate
His birthday when it fell;
Feasting with the head of state
Was protocol as well.

When the daughter of his spouse
Had danced before the king,
He announced to all the house,
Reward for such a thing.

Ask of me whate’er you will,
He said unto the maid;
Watching her was such a thrill,
With all its cheap parade.

So she went to seek advice
As daughters who are led;
She was told to ask the prize
Of John the Baptist’s head.

What appeared to be the end
Of John in such a fix,
Was in fact the very trend
That prophecy predicts.

Herod and Herodias
Who chose to live in crime,
Could not see the total mass
Of souls redeemed in time.

Satan
But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
2 Corinthians 4:3

Satan is not as he’s often portrayed:
Caricatured and distorted;
He is a spirit of devilish trade,
Claiming each soul he has courted.

He started out as a cherub so bright,
Guarding the throne of his Master;
Pride was the start of his ongoing plight,
Causing a cosmic disaster.

He has succeeded in bringing us low,
By his deceitful suggestions;
He is a liar as any should know,
As he plied Eve with his questions.

He is still backing the evil today,
Sponsoring many devices;
All unbelievers are under his sway,
Still unaware of the crisis.

He was defeated by Jesus alone,
Yet he remains as the devil;
Ruling the ones he regards as his own;
Keeping them down at his level.

Those who have trusted in Jesus the Lord,
Know of his evil intentions;
They can resist him by faith and the Word,
Combating all his inventions.

He masquerades as an angel of light;
Yet like a beast he is prowling;
He cannot win at the ultimate fight,
Still he continues his growling.

He does not pose any positive threat,
While we are under his ruling;
But when he knows that the Saviour we’ve met,
Then he attacks without fooling.

Christians are mainly the ones that he hates,
Even the saints that are growing;
Causing confusion by what he creates,
So as to limit their sowing.

Godly behaviour is always our stay,
In the angelic aggression;
Walking with Jesus from day unto day,
Ever His purchased possession.

Apostasy
This know also, that in the last days...
men will be lovers of themselves.

2 Timothy 3:1

The Spirit says explicitly
That in the latter days,
A number will depart the faith
And choose demonic ways.

Who speak lies in hypocrisy,
Their conscience being seared;
Forbidding normal marriages;
A custom long revered.

Commanding total abstinence
From foods regarded whole;
Which God created perfectly
For every living soul.

They have a form of godliness
But yet deny its power;
Absorbed in their self-righteousness,
They sin from hour to hour.

The Scripture has commanded us:
From such men turn away!
Their folly will be manifest
Upon the Judgment Day.

Depravity
…Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them
…are set forth an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

Jude 7

As we read again of Sodom and Gomorrah,
It should bring to us a growing sense of horror;
With habitual and unashamed perversion,
They did not believe a righteous man’s assertion.

Why do men indulge in such a blatant cancer?
We must turn to Romans One to get the answer;
They already had sufficient revelation,
For they knew indeed the God of all creation.

Yet they did not give Him honour nor were grateful,
But instead they started doing what is hateful;
Knowing fully of God’s essence and its features,
They began to worship birds and crawling creatures.

For in claiming to be wise their hearts were darkened,
Blotting out the moral things they should have hearkened,
So the darkness led to vain imaginations,
With the practice of their social degradations.

Therefore having chosen lower things of meanness,
God allowed them to indulge in all uncleanness;
Having cast aside the Lord and His corrections,
They immersed themselves in deeds of vile affections.

Now a word that used to speak of simple pleasure
Has become a term for things of lowest measure;
Yet there is a hope for any such defector:
Trust the Saviour for He is our true Protector.

Evil Exposed
And Esther said, The adversary and enemy is this wicked Haman.
Then Haman was afraid before the king and the queen.

Esther 7:6

With Esther preparing to stand in the court,
She knew it could spell her removal;
Her role as first lady would then be cut short
Unless there was royal approval.

The king did not hesitate as she appeared,
Extending his beautiful sceptre;
His manner had pacified what she had feared,
For thus he agreed to accept her.

She made her petition in what she did tell,
Inviting the king to her banquet;
And also Prince Haman she honoured as well,
Although she’d not mentioned his rank yet.

For Haman was planning a Jewish demise:
He plotted their extermination;
This exilic people he’d come to despise;
Their downfall would bring him elation.

When Esther had given her feast yet again,
She made an appeal with emotion;
The plot formed by Haman was duly made plain,
Provoking a royal commotion.

For Haman had also determined a plan:
A hanging for someone respected;
The gallows he made would demolish this man;
So Haman had wrongly expected.

But Haman was placed on the gallows he built;
His screaming exceeded his boasting;
Thus sinners who die in their unashamed guilt
Will suffer a similar roasting.

Leaven
Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump.
1 Corinthians 5:7

Leaven in the sacred book,
Corresponds with sin;
Permeating every nook,
Where it enters in.

Leaven of the Sadducees
Puts the human view;
That taught by the Pharisees
Sponsors evil too.

Leaven in the Corinth scene
Brought ungodly strife;
There a man had wrongly been
With his father’s wife.

Leaven in Galatian mode
Took religious forms;
Starting on the freedom road,
Turned to legal norms.

Let us keep the Paschal Feast
With unleavened bread;
For we are as men deceased,
Risen from the dead.

Counterfeit
Let no man deceive you by any means.
2 Thessalonians 2:3

The world has got a counterfeit
Of things considered true;
A system founded on deceit,
And wicked through and through.

Its god is called Beelzebub,
Which means the lord of flies;
The irony, and here's the rub,
That's not what it implies.

He really is the demon king,
With delegated power;
He sponsors every evil thing,
And causes it to flower.

The edifice is very neat,
Beneath a cloak of lies;
While on the surface looking sweet,
It wears a thin disguise.

With teachings of demonic sort,
It permeates our halls;
Where every soul not Spirit-taught
Is caught within its walls.

A counterfeit communion,
Both mystical and fake;
A manufactured union
Which people sip and take.

A pseudo-spirituality
Persuasive and sincere;
A humanist mentality,
Devoid of godly fear.

Its ministers are everywhere
Promoting its appeal:
At live address or on the air,
Presenting it as real.

The test of every counterfeit
Is coming in its time;
When all deception is complete,
The truth will judge the crime.

False Teachers
Now the Spirit speaketh expressly,
that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith,
giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.

1 Timothy 4:1

The Spirit says explicitly
That in the latter days,
There will be much duplicity
By men of evil ways.

Who speak lies in hypocrisy;
Forbidding men to wed;
Yet such has no consistency
With what the Lord has said.

As well, demanding abstinence
From certain kinds of food;
Which shows their lack of competence
And legal attitude.

Yet all such food is sanctified
By gratitude and prayer;
For Jesus who is glorified
Allots our daily share.

We therefore in humility
Who have been truly taught,
Should point out the futility
Of things which they purport.

All Scripture is commendable,
And profitable too;
That we might be dependable,
In all we say and do.

Idols
Little children, keep yourselves from idols.
1 John 5:21

In a world that meets the eyes,
Idols are invasive;
Anything we visualise,
Subtle or persuasive.

When they are the centrepiece
Of our soul’s affection;
It cannot secure release,
Without much correction.

Many things that we esteem,
Valued or essential,
Seldom turn out as they seem,
In their full potential.

Objects having such a place
In our inner makeup,
Occupy the whole embrace,
With the part they take up.

Recreation, pleasure, sport;
Things that are possessive;
Can invade our daily thought,
And become excessive.

When the object of our mind
Is our Lord Creator,
We shall consequently find
Values that are greater.

First we have to realise,
As unworthy sinners,
We must have discerning eyes
From His light within us.

When the Lord fills our belief,
Idols are forsaken;
For their tenure will be brief
In the stand we’ve taken.

The Devil
Neither give place to the devil.
Ephesians 4:27

The devil is mentioned by various words;
Among them we name but a few;
As seeds can be taken away by the birds,
He snatches the word of God too.

The seed of the gospel is scattered abroad,
Intended for everyone’s heart;
Unless it takes root and is thereupon stored,
The process of life cannot start.

He’s also a liar, the lord of deceit;
And comes as an angel of light;
Although at the Cross he has suffered defeat,
He still is the devil we fight.

We then must resist him by being prepared;
By faith is the victory won;
The Lord will be with us in love He has shared,
His promise is never undone.
