CHRISTIAN POEMS ABOUT GRACE

Christian Poems about the Church

Stillness
Be still, and know that I am God:
Psalm 46:10

Behavioural patterns today
Exhibit a shallow display
Some follow a pattern
To just hang the hat on
Insisting, as any would say,
Leftovers are now here to stay.

Let’s look at the Biblical view
A factor not just for the few
New projects invented
Distinctly presented
Keep claiming their projects are due,
Neglecting the facts that are true.

Our text that we read with our eyes
Will help any fool to be wise
The Lord is our Master
He helps in disaster
As terrible portents arise,
The Lord will return with His prize.

Immutable, ever the same,
As Scripture attests to His claim
Mankind with ill-breeding
God’s love interceding:
Our Lord took the guilt and the blame,
Displayed on the Cross when He came.

Apathy
Hear the word of the LORD, ye children
of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy
with the inhabitants of the land,

Hosea 4:1

Hear the word of God indicted
Earnestly He speaks
Always in His words united
Righteousness He seeks.

Though His sheep are small in number
Hope is ever clear
Ears must not repine in slumber
With each passing year.

On this theme with applications
Rests our daily walk
Do we ply our inclinations,
Or are they just talk.

Furthermore with full assurance
Treasures are in sight
Hope is reached through much endurance
Etched on tablets bright.

Let His word that He has spoken
Open wide the door
Resting on this faithful token
Death shall reign no more.

The Fountainhead
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end,
the first and the last.

Revelation 22:13

In a most decisive way
All will be completed
Many gods are here today
As their claims are feted.

Lowly did our Saviour walk
Plain were His credentials
Holiness engrained His talk
Always with essentials.

As He took a servant’s role
Never did He waver
Daunters could not cloud His soul
Or His holy fervour.

Masterly He made all things
Each as He appointed
Grace and truth the life He brings
Anchored and anointed.

Sheepishness
All we like sheep have gone astray;
we have turned every one to his  own way;
and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

Isaiah 53:6

All we like sheep need protection
Lost in a world of our own
Left without proper direction
We would be ever alone.

Endlessly seeking coherence
Links in a logical chain
Insight without interference
Kindred in pattern and vein.

Everyone having true vision
Seeing God’s plan as revealed
Having once made a decision
Enters a spiritual field.

Eloquent speech is impressive
Preachers with silvery tongue
Harping on wonders successive
Able to draw us along.

Very good words are a blessing
Even as such that are true
Guarded in what they’re addressing
Open to critical view.

Never should men stay in darkness
Evil contends with the light
Artiness breeds only starkness
Sliding from day into night.

Thus let us draw a conclusion
Reason it out for yourself
Apathy leads to confusion
Yearning is left on the shelf.

Assurance
In my Father's house are many mansions:
if it were not so, I would have told you.
I go to prepare a place for you.

John 14:2

In history
God’s word we see
Outgoing and far-reaching
True words profound
On solid ground
Propelled by godly teaching.

Resolving pains
Entrapped in chains
Parental in their training
Attentive eyes
Renewed and wise
Enjoy the fruit pertaining.

Ask any saint
Polite or quaint
Layman or scientific
And they will say
Choose while you may
End times will be horrific.

For those who lean
On vistas green
Rewards may be untimely
Yet if our tilt
On God is built
Upshots will end sublimely.

Watchfulness
The name of the LORD is a strong tower:
the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

Proverbs 18:10

The name of the Lord is a fortified tower
He watches His sheep with intent every hour
Entrusted with care
Not ceasing in prayer
Abiding as children we rest neath His bower.

Meandering thoughts may distract or confuse us
Encounters with light should alert and enthuse us
Our Lord holds the key
For each mystery
The grace and the truth that together He fuses.

His strength undergirds us in ongoing weakness
Essential when facing some capital bleakness
Like messengers frail
Our energies fail
Resurgence comes only through penitent meekness.

Dependable, true, is our Lord and Commander
If meeting with hardship we stray or meander
Steadfastly He stays
Abiding always
Supportive, upholding, there is no one grander.

The farther we grow by our onward progression
Reverses may lead to unwanted depression
Our faith must be tried
No promise denied
Growth must be linked up with an honest confession.

Together we pool our collective resources
On varied or difficult pathways or courses
With hopes that endure
Expectant and sure
Resisting assaults from those spiritual forces.

The Battle
For we are members of his body,
of his flesh, and of his bones.

Ephesians 5:30

Fight the good fight!
Our weapons out of sight
Resourcefully as soldiers free
We keep our armour bright.

Endless the call
A path for great and small
Restoring souls to higher goals
Endowed with orders tall.

March to the beat!
Elect with measured feet
Men though we be, our destiny
Behoves our role is meet.

Early we rise
Regardless of the skies
Sufficient grace our resting place
Ordained by One so wise.

Fling off the weights!
Help strangers at the gates
Inviting foes to find repose
Secure in noble states.

Blow on the horn!
Our lives can be reborn
Dismiss the pall, embrace the call
You’ll see the coming dawn.

Sojourners
Behold the Lamb of God,
which taketh away the sin of the world.

John 1:29

Behold the Lamb of God
Enthroned in majesty
His gospel has been told
On land and on the sea
Like dreams as they unfold
Designed for you and me.

The Lamb of God we know
He bore our sins afar
Enlightened as we go
Likeminded so we are
As dwelling here below
Mid novelties bizarre.

Beloved by the Lord
Our place in history
For blessings they afford
Gratuitous and free
Old sins gone by the board
Dispatched by nth degree.

Readiness
Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD.
Praise ye the LORD.

Psalm 150:6

Praise the King ascended
Ruling hearts surrended
At the cross His cry rang out
It is finished was the shout
So was justice rendered.

Ending much prediction
Yielding much affliction
Every promise was fulfilled
Thus believing hearts are stilled
Healed of their addiction.

Erring souls not fearing
Locking out their hearing
Ought to fear the Judgment Hall
Ready for the Final Call
Danger zones are nearing.

Fountains
Behold, God is my salvation;
I will trust, and not be afraid:

Isaiah 12:2

I will trust and not fear
When the conflict is near
I will trustingly look to the Master
Like the saints gone before
Leaving death at the door
Treading paths that are safe from disaster.

Restoration we prize
Under mellowing skies
Shouts of joy will be heard marked with laughter
Then will everyone know
As the saints long ago
Never shall we lack gladness hereafter.

Dedication our due
Naturalness that’s true
Overtures may precede an objective
The predominant thought
Bedded down like a fort
Every word God records is selective.

At the trumpeter’s call
Fear of death can’t forestall
Reassurance we have without measure
Altogether we sing
In our hearts to the King
Drinking wine from His fountains of pleasure.

The Afterlife
And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day:
for there shall be no night there.

Revelation 21:25

There is joy for us in store
Hope awaiting evermore
Endless days when all the darkness is excluded
Revelation from the word
Emanations have occurred
So the time of this domain will be concluded.

Here we have no resting place
All the blessings we embrace
Leave a longing in our hearts for coming glory
Leading always to the Lord
Be He evermore adored
Exaltation is the title of His story.

No more accidents or care
Only blessings will be there
Nothing carried from this world we see around us
In the coming afterlife
God will banish all the strife
He alone knows of the enemies that hound us.

There is happiness for all
Those who heed the gospel call
Hear the message long proclaimed of our Redeemer
Early morn or maybe night
Resurrection is in sight
Every saint will face the Judge before the Bema.

Residing
Abide in me, and I in you.
As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself,
 except it abide in the vine;
no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

John 15:4

Abiding is essential
Because the Lord is near
In Him our life potential
Devoid of sin and fear.
Each day is providential
In stressful times or cheer.

Not everything is painless
Mistakes have oft occurred
Employment may seem aimless
A job appear absurd
No human can be stainless
Devoutness is preferred.

In Christ we are abiding
If consciousness is clear
No sins that we are hiding
Yell out from their veneer
Our progress and our striding
Upheld by One so dear.

The Arena
Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth
so easily beset us, and let us run with patience
the race that is set before us,

Hebrews 12:1

Leisurely we run the race
Eagerly in light of grace
Tuneful in our measure
Under God’s protective care
Still the goal awaits us there
Lofty, filled with treasure.

Assets that we all possess
Yearnings linger nonetheless
Adding their attractions
Studies that we undertake
Itemise a welcome break
Downing erring factions.

Even when the road gets hard
Efforts futile, options barred
Victory was wrested
Enemies were put to flight
Rebel forces with their might
Yet now are divested.

While the Lord our God has won
Every day the war goes on
In our battle stations
Graciously He still provides
Healing wounds and stemming tides
Thronged with acclamations.

Submissiveness
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.
Cleanse your hands, ye sinners;
and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

James 4:8

Draw nigh to God for this we know
Responding means volition
Attentively
We bow the knee
Not changing our position.

Impeccable the God we trust
Gratuitous and holy
He doth ensure
To make us pure
Our lives He values solely.

Gone by the board the cares we hoard
Our former misdemeanors
Discarding those
As worn out clothes
No more to come between us.

Did not the rule we learned at school
Have certain implications?
Exams are set
With etiquette
Intent on right relations.

Long do we pry in matters sly
Left ruing our distractions
Decisions made
Reprove our trade
As contradictive factions.

With true regard for what we’ve heard
Not found in mortal writing
In it we find
God’s peace of mind
Heartwarming and exciting.

To any saint sincere or quaint
Our term or obligation:
Yahweh our Lord
Our life restored
United; its duration.

Realization
While I live will I praise the LORD:
I will sing praises unto my God
while I have any being.

Psalm 146:2

Wonderful is our Creator
He is the Ancient of Days
Insofar no one is greater
Lo, He is worthy of praise.

Earnestly let us adore Him
Infinite love He portrays
Legalists just can’t ignore Him
In deeds perfective always.

Value His word as your life-blood
Ever His promise we hail
Welcome His love as a wife would
Instant and sure without fail.

LORD let our praise be accepted
Let us not worship in vain
If our weak hearts are not rested
Pour down Thy love like the rain.

Restfulness in Thee abiding
Aptitude in Thee is found
If there is sin we are hiding
Suffer us not to be bound.

Edify those who are willful
Train up Thy saints to be wise
Have Thou regard for the skilful
Even the goal that we prize.

Lastly we offer our being
Offered as cleansed by Thy blood
Ransomed with God ever-seeing
Destined with Thy livelihood.
