Christian Poems about Biblical Enlightenment

But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
Genesis 6:8

Back in the days of the flood that we read
Upsets were rampant with gathering speed
Total disaster
Nearing and faster
Occupied those who had thus taken heed.

Actions of sinners had gotten perverse
Hasting upon them a heaven-sent curse
Few were remaining
Only sustaining
Under a climate declining and worse.

Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord
Drawing his faith from the doctrine he stored
Grounded and ready
Restful and steady
As he preached constantly, not overawed.

Constant and clear was his reverent plea
Everyone living could patently see
In their behaviour
Norms without flavour
Totally bad as we humans can be.

He was instructed on building a barge
Engineered, stable, seaworthy and large
Earnest in preaching
Years in outreaching
Entreating sinners for thus was his charge.

Such is the trend of our short history
Only in hindsight we’re able to see
Frail in our nature
Tied down in stature
Hoping and yearning that we could be free.

Everyone hearing the gospel must know
Love came among us and dwelt here below
Only in Jesus
Richly He sees us
Deem Him your Saviour wherever you go.

O God, be not far from me:
O my God, make haste for my help.
Psalm 71:12

Old and weary
Grey and dreary
On a winding road we tread
Distant singing
Bells are ringing
Entrance to a goal ahead.

Never leaving
Others grieving
Trekking as we travel on
Future fancies
All romances
Real for mortals till they’re gone.

Forward reaching
Reared with teaching
Onward as we march along
Moulded dearly
Marked out clearly
Evermore our evensong.

For with thee is the fountain of life:
in thy light shall we see light.
Psalm 36:9

Insatiable are we
Not having any peace
The slightest nudge
Heaps up a grudge
Yet there is no release.

Let’s have a closer look
Into this dark domain
Get matters straight
Here’s no debate
The remedy is plain.

Should not we be alert?
Has conscience been unmoved?
As every stake
Leaves in its wake
Love’s tenderness approved.

We have a sober mind
Engendered from our birth
Saints have their quest:
Eternal rest
Enlightened on the earth.

Like every mortal here
Irrational in part
God has a field
He’s now revealed
The truth must fill our heart.

Create in me a clean heart, O God;
and renew a right spirit within me.
Psalm 51:10

Created life abounds today
Regardless of our knowing
Eternal life is here to stay
As many souls have had their say
Their second birth all-glowing.

Eternity is straight ahead
It does not have a turning
Not everything today is said
Mortality is what we shed
Envisaged fit for burning.

Another body is in store
Created yet eternal
Logistical and furthermore
Equipped as well as that before
A body yet fraternal.

Now we are people with a will
Hope does not come by wanting
Each one of us have had our fill
A knowledge of the good and ill
Rewards come after planting.

To put the matter in a shell
Our conscience must be woken
God welcomes every ne’er-do-well
Or any tale he has to tell
Deliverance is the token.

For to be carnally minded is death;
but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Romans 8:6

To those who are spiritually minded
Opposed to the carnal in thought
By being disposed
End times are disclosed
Sustaining the soul at each port.

Perchance there may be an objector
In light of this biblical view
Respect for the Lord
In line with His word
Translates to a life that is true.

Unusual events may astound us
As many have happened before
Let any who deem
Last days are a dream
Yardsticks are at hand in the store.

Maybe all this rhyme is conjecture
Imagined or formed in the head
No humanist form
Determines the norm
Eclectics belong with the dead.

Decide for yourself if you’re able
Investigate truth at its source
Salvation begins
Loosed there from our sins
Inducted into a new course.

For those who are still open-minded
Eschewing a ploy or a lie
Assurance is free
Not hid by decree
Disclosed till the moment we die.

Philosophy rules in the nations
Establishing laws that are base
All that has been said
Christ rose from the dead
Each soul will go on to its place.

The Token
I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart;
I will shew forth all thy marvellous works.
Psalm 9:1

I will praise Thee O my LORD
When my foes are taken
In the presence of Thy sword
Loftiness is shaken
Let Thy powerful, living word
Prosper unforsaken.

Resting in Thy providence
All Thy foes are thwarted
Insofar as their defence
Simply is contorted
Emptiness their recompense
Thus is folly courted.

Heed the longings of my heart
Evermore be near me
Every soul must have a part
Only Thou dost cheer me
Let Thy grace illume my heart
On Thy path to steer me.

Recklessly I wandered far
Darkening and deeper
When I saw the Morning Star
I beheld my Keeper
Tasteful as a mountain spa
Help when paths grow steeper.

Mine the body, Thou the Head
Yearnings never leave us
While our life hangs by a thread
Hope can never grieve us
Opportune, our daily bread
Linking up like weavers.

Ever since the world began
History has spoken
Energies by mortal man
Aid a soul awoken
Resting in God’s perfect plan
Truth, the Saviour’s token.

Heavenly Speech
The heavens declare the glory of God;
and the firmament sheweth his handiwork.
Psalm 19:1

The heavens are telling God’s glory on high
His handiwork etched in the stars in the sky
Each having a glory uniquely its own
Harnessed to the planets as locked in a zone
Enchanted we gaze at this wonderful sight
Arrayed for our pleasure by night after night.

Vast galaxies shining, their number untold
Enhancing our darkness as ages unfold
Not only in brightness, they differ in size
Surpassing in wonder their form to our eyes
Declaring the realm of this great universe
Existing till time has exhausted the curse.

Can anyone guess the dimension of space?
Leave others to work out the facts they can trace
Assess for a moment the vast Milky Way
Researchers and experts have all had their say.
Enlightened believers who trust in the Lord
Take comfort in God with the wisdom they’ve stored.

Has anyone pondered the sun or the moon?
Exact as created; forever in tune
Great is our Creator; He does all things well
Located in splendour and clear as a bell
O let us with praises give thanks to His name
Resplendent in majesty, always the same.

Young people, take note as the years come and go
Our days are all numbered by God even so
Fix all your attention on Jesus Most High
Give Him your submission before you must die
Owe no one a debt but true love from the heart
Delight in the Lord in each day from the start.

The LORD is my light and my salvation;
whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength
of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
Psalm 27:1

The LORD is my light
He opened my eyes
Exposing the glory that dwells in the skies
Love gave me new sight
Old things passed away
Renewing the mind in the course of the day.

Distinctions appeared
Ignored or unknown
Such things as surrounding the LORD at His throne
More perils I feared
Yet not with distress
Let not me be carnal but clean, nonetheless.

Infractions may come
Gigantic or small
High mountains of Satan are never too tall
The LORD knows the sum
Aware of our need
New life is the answer by word and by deed.

Decisions we make
Must always be thought
Yet in our cognisance we do what we ought
Secure is our stake
Appointed at birth
Linked now to the LORD and not tied to the earth.

Vitality thrives
Among the elect
The saints who are walking the way they have checked
In spirit our lives
Ordained by decree
Negotiate paths of the ransomed and free.

Put on the whole armour of God,
that ye may be able to stand against
 the wiles of the devil.
Ephesians 6:11

Pilgrims who pray
Under its sway
Testing may come in due course
Only the Word
Nurtured when heard
Takes it to God as the source.

Having insight
Earnest in plight
Walking by faith is the key
Hindering ways
Obscure the gaze
Lessons we all need to see.

Eagerly led
All roads ahead
Rightfully only the true
Many the cares
Objects or snares
Usurp and cause much to-do.

Robed in His grace
Ogres we face
Fighting our devious foes
Giving no ground
Onward and sound
Destined for heaven’s repose.

By the word of the LORD
were the heavens made;
Psalm 33:6

Beyond the farthest star
Yet little though we are
The heavens were created as commanded
Heart-stopping is the sight
Exhibited by night
Where every star befits the royal standard.

Our view of stellar space
Requires we have a place
Depending how we think of our Creator
Of every fact revealed
Far-reaching in its field
Together can’t be less but even greater.

Has anyone surveyed
Each atom God has made
Laboratories are built with undertaking
On every front they find
Reports that blow the mind
Discovering the God who does the making.

When doctors disagree
Exchanging what they see
Remarks about the cosmos breed illusion
Effective is God’s word
Triumphant, never blurred
His Spirit does ensure there’s no confusion.

Experimental schools
Have furnished us with rules
Enabling us to see things more distinctly
A modern telescope
Views heaven without hope
Elected saints can see the Lord succinctly.

Now what do we conclude
Soft answers we exclude
More meaningful are facts that are explicit
A perfect universe
Devoid of any curse
Eventually will come, so do not miss it.

Behold, the eye of the LORD
is upon them that fear him.
Psalm 33:18

Beginners and winners
Elect among sinners
Have Fatherly care from on high
On earth for a season
Left here for a reason
Declared in the courts by and by.

The children who fear Him
Hallow and revere Him
Endeavour to walk in His ways
Equipped for the warfare
Young men like their forbear
Enhancing the end of their days.

Of all that we’ve spoken
Frames only a token
The picture is seen anywhere
Health-seeking and binding
Employed in path-finding
Located with partners in prayer.

Ordained and elected
Reserved and respected
Divested of worldly pursuit
Ingrained with good teaching
Set firm in outreaching
Unmoved by a difficult route.

Polite in their bearing
On guard and yet daring
Near always to God in their thoughts
Thus Christians should savour
Heartsomely behaviour
Extended to folk out of sorts.

Mild-mannered, well-pleasing
Tough talk calls for easing
Hard questions are not out of place
A person unsteady
Thus might be unready
For such we should give the more grace.

Endearment expresses
Adornment in stresses
Restoring a soul who is down
Hands on where there’s danger
In-laws or a stranger
Make sure that we don’t leave a frown.

And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.
Luke 3:6

As mortals we stay
Not heeding the way
Determined by royal decree
Awareness and sight
Lulled deep in the night
Lasts only till we bend the knee.

For those with a bind
Likeminded not blind
Estrangement is what they must shun
Sufficient for all
Held out since the fall
Salvation is Christ once begun.

He only the key
Accounting us free
Long-lasting, abundant and fair
Let any complaint
Setback or restraint
Escape with all doubt or despair.

Each soul faces death
Till there is no breath
Help nowhere is found among men
Each soul that departs
Should speak to our hearts
Afflicted if not born again.

Let’s now be concise
Vain words are like ice
Attractive but lacking in whole
There’s only one path
Instead of God’s wrath
One gospel for each living soul.

Now this is the hour
Outstanding in power
Fulfilling, sustaining, engraved
God’s kingdom is great
O come, don’t be late!
Decide for the Lord and be saved!

Abel was a keeper of sheep,
but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
Genesis 4:2

Abel was a keeper
Not an idle sleeper
Diligent, he offered up his stock
As the time proceeded
Blessedness he heeded
Even to the firstlings of his flock.

Lessons can’t be clearer
Winsome or much dearer
Attitudes determine our regard
So do our decisions
Aggravate divisions
Knocking out the conscience till it’s hard.

Ever since it started
Elegance departed
Populations sank till they were gone
Every generation
Reared with education
Ought to pass on wisdom to their son.

Faith is always central
Sure and elemental
Having its direction to the King
Even so the measure
Empathy or pleasure
Plots the end conclusion it will bring.

…the LORD came unto Abram in a vision,
saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield,
and thy exceeding great reward.
Genesis 15:1

For Abraham and all his seed
Election is the token
A token as a title deed
Recorded as was spoken
Not only would the Spirit lead
Outstanding doors would open.

The pattern of this incident
Announced to our dear brother
Becomes a standing precedent
Reserved for one another
Awaiting every complement
Made clear as we discover.

In progress of our history
Amendments are inserted
Much prophecy is mystery
Till it has been adverted
Home-teaching is a legacy
Young people are alerted.

So in the last analysis
Held onto when we know it
Instruction is the emphasis
Except we overthrow it
Let all our days be witnesses
Devoted lives will show it.

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet,
and a light unto my path.
Psalm 119:105

Thy word is the light
Heart-warming and bright
Yet always we need application
Wherever we are
Outgoing or far
Recall is for any occasion.

Distractions abound
If faith is not sound
Submission should lead to confession
Although we are weak
Love stronger we seek
Affording our onward progression.

Momentous the plan
Proposed unto man
Unswerving in all its directions
Not high in the sky
To which we could fly
Our Saviour has locked our connections.

Majestic is He
Yea, more than we see
Forever His word is our treasure
Excelling in light
Expounding our blight
To lead us to joys without measure.
